The Mesa County Jail

When I was in Scottsdale, Arizona one of the many places I went was the Arizona history museum. Inside were parts of the historical Mesa County Jail. It wasn't the nicest place...but then jails aren't supposed to be.
These are gorgous pieces of petrified wood at the museum. You can easily count the age of the trees by the rings.
These are excellent examples of the rock formations and such they have there.
And what would any self respecting museum be without a dinosaur hanging around? They had several nice bony ones scattered about. When going up the stair case you go under one as they have him/her stretched across the stairs.
This is Elvis. He is a bit lazy, content to lay under his heat lamp.
They had a special exhibit on poop. I had never been to a special exhibit on poop before. It was interesting. I learned a lot of stuff about poop I didn't know--or even thought I wanted to know. Kids at the museum really seemed to enjoy it.
This is what a cactus looks like on the inside. They have these bunches of really neat round wood shafts that make up their innards. Cactus live a long time and it can take them 100 years to sprout out a branch.
