Family Reunion Pictures
|
Peggy sent in these pictures and story from the reunion in McPherson:
This is the beginning: the "Girls" are starting it off. I would put
their ages down on their pictures but they would probably kill me.
We stayed at the Econolodge in McPherson. It was a really interesting
place. We were all supposed to have courtyard rooms--and didn't. When
Mom checked in I specifically asked the manager to move her over to
the courtyard so she could have easy visiting with her sisters and he
informed me he couldn't do that as he didn't have any rooms on the
courtyard.
Then during the night A. Burneeta's and A. Betty's room's
toilet overflowed and they were moved to another room--in the
courtyard. So I wanted to give the manager a piece of my mind, but
Mother wouldn't let me. Mother ended up in another building next to
Pat and Walt, and that was okay, but she still would have been closer
to the other Sisters if she would have been put in the room to begin
with. Of course...makes you wonder how long A. Burneeta and A. Betty
would have been able to tread water in their room.
A. Nila's room had a roach in it. Apparently she didn't like sharing
her room as it was rather flat when they got through with it.
A. Ruth and girls (Deana, Ruthie Ann, and Betty Jean) room didn't have
a light bulb in it and Betty Jean had to work on the lamps to get them
working. Then Betty Jean had to work on the stool there too as it kept
running, not overflowing, but they kept an eye on it.
Julie and Jim's room's stool overflowed too and they got moved also,
but it was down from the courtyard.
Dean and Candy's room's air conditioning either made a racket or
wouldn't work at all so they moved to the Honey Moon suite with a
heart shaped hot tub. They also spent hours and hours and hours and
hours in Wal-Mart shopping.
We finally decided when 'stuff' started seeping up in the back parking
lot that the city had a lift that quit doing what it was supposed to
do. Hence, we got the results in some of our rooms. My only problem was I had a
fly in my room, but I also had a fly swatter so my fly was no longer my problem.
My fridge also managed to ice up my cokes so that was a really cool thing. Other
than Walt not finding his clothes, they were okay in their room. We did have a
nice courtyard to set in and visit. The lights were on a timer and would go off
at 2200 and we asked for them to be turned on and we would get another 30
minutes or so. It didn't seem to bother us much as we kept visiting until
midnight. They had a large screen TV in there, but it didn't work and they had a
smaller TV setting on top of it that did work. Deana and Betty Jean found a
western channel and John Wayne. |
| Friday night A. Burneeta, A. Ruthie, Deana, Betty Jean, Ruthie, and I all went to eat at Perkins
that was in front of the motel. The food was really good there and we had great company. Mother and Pat and
Walt all stopped in Hutch Friday on the way up and ate Chinese. Saturday we had folks coming and going--Dean
and Candy shopping, Tammy and the boys came up and Tammy got to visit with her friend from high school. We
laughed at silly stuff that has happened, missed those that weren't there, and enjoyed ourselves.
Saturday night we all went over to the Perkins place again and had a great
meal together.

Dean set in the Batmobile and we offered him quarters but he didn't
want them. At least he didn't get stuck in it.
We had group family pictures.

I thought I had two pictures of the girls, but this is the only one
and Bobby had her eyes closed.

The last two pictures Penny, Tammy's friend, was kind enough to take
for us so we would have a group picture.
Sunday we all had to get around as folks had to go back to Colorado
and Texas...and other points.
Sunday morning we had our first breakfast at McDonalds. Others went
later to other places. By noon most every one was on the road to our
prospective homes.
It was hard to say good bye as we enjoyed seeing everyone. But we will
get together again some time in the future.
